Around the Oceanário
Things to do in Parque das Nações
The riverside district the Oceanário stands in — a cable car, a very long bridge, and an easy flat walk either side of your visit.
Check dates on Viator ↗The cable car along the river
A cable car runs along the Parque das Nações riverfront, a short ride with views over the Tagus and towards the Vasco da Gama Bridge — the longest bridge in the European Union.
A flat riverside walk
Parque das Nações was built for Expo '98 on former industrial riverfront, and it's now a wide, flat, landscaped district — gardens, public art and a long promenade by the river.
Eating and a wet-weather backup
There are restaurants and cafés throughout the district, plus the Vasco da Gama shopping centre, built on the Expo's former main entrance — useful on the same rainy days that tend to fill the Oceanário.
Building a half-day around your visit
A mid-morning or early-afternoon Oceanário visit leaves the rest of the half-day free for the riverside and the cable car either side of it — the district is flat and easy to walk from Oriente station.
